Welcome to my blog hub!
What if it does work out?
Ever wondered if you could actually make money proofreading? If you’ve been searching for a way to earn income from home — without giving up your flexibility — this episode is for you.
I’m chatting with Nerissa Hall, a proofreader, entrepreneur, and mom who went from working at a sheriff’s department to building a work-from-home business on her own terms. Her story proves that success isn’t about luck — it’s about learning a skill, taking action, and making it work for you.
In this episode, we cover:
✔ How she transitioned from transcribing to proofreading (and why proofreading was the better choice!)
✔ Why financial security isn’t about a 9-5 job — it’s about having skills you can rely on
✔ The power of starting small, taking daily action, and building something that fits your life
If you’ve ever thought, Could I actually do this, this episode will give you the nudge you need.

You’re thinking about proofreading…but you’re wrestling with some serious imposter syndrome.
You keep asking yourself:
What if grammar doesn’t come easily to me? Can I still have a proofreading business? Will my clients take me seriously if they find out I’m not a grammar genius?
Worse yet, how will I be able to get clients when I’m an introvert through and through and the idea of marketing makes my skin crawl?
If those fears are nagging at you, this podcast episode is for you.
Joining me is one of my very first grads, Candace! In this episode, she slays those trepidations about not being good enough at grammar and hating marketing…because that was her when she started.
But even with those fears, she started her business in 8 weeks and has been a successful transcript proofreader for the last 3 years!
Listen in as one of my OG grads shares what it was like to start her transcript proofreading business as a nurse, new mom, self-proclaimed okayest grammarian, and introvert…and how you can too.

If you’re like me, it’s hard to start something new and not be instantly good at it. We go-getter people want to jump in and be the best right away.
Take proofreading, for example. We want to know yesterday how to proofread, set up our rates, and get clients. And not only do we want to know how, we want to be really good at the snap of a finger.
That pressure we put on ourselves to be perfect right from the start? It’s real!
In this podcast episode, I talk about the challenges of learning something new as an adult.
We’re used to knowing what we’re doing and being good at it! So when we pick up a new skill, like proofreading, it feels odd to get back into the mindset of letting ourselves be new.
Instead of realizing it’s okay to be a beginner, we start beating ourselves up over the impossible expectations we put on ourselves.
If you’re feeling pressure to be perfect or frustrated because you’re not where you want to be yet, this episode is a reminder from me to you that progress takes time — and that’s okay.
Listen in — and be ready to give yourself all the grace you deserve.

Have you ever been overwhelmed by life’s challenges?
And I’m not just talking about unexpected crises that knock you off your path — it could “just” be all the hats you wear, places you need to be, and responsibilities you’re…well… responsible for.
Life can be just plain overwhelming, am I right?
And I bet if I asked you, “Have you ever been through something really hard?” you’d probably be able to immediately recall a season in your life as vividly as if you had just lived through it yesterday.
But let me ask you this: In hindsight, do you wish you would have quit in the middle of the hard, or are you glad you persevered?
My dear friend — and transcript proofreading grad — Lisa has a unique perspective on how to approach difficulties and overwhelm, and she shares all kinds of encouragement in our latest podcast interview!
Lisa and I discuss how even the toughest seasons can lead to incredible growth and fulfillment. She challenges the notion that quitting is the easy way out and encourages us to see the bigger picture. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not worth doing.
Whether you’re juggling a demanding job, a to-do list as long as your arm, or the daily grind of parenthood (in addition to building your own transcript proofreading business!), Lisa’s insights will inspire you to persevere.
Listen in as she shares her wisdom on how to work from home as a busy mom, how she handles mom guilt, and how rewarding it is when you stick with it through the tough seasons.

Testimonials, feedback, and reviews are directly from students. They have not been compensated for their comments. Success/results/income is not guaranteed and can vary from student to student. Proofreading is not a "get rich" and "get rich quick doing nothing" business. It takes diligence, learning, and showing up for yourself to get the results you want. No coaching, training, or course will give you the life you want to have; you have to put in the work. Your success is up to you!
